Our Work
Epworth WASH Project
Dare to Share is drilling borehole wells that bring clean water to thousands of residents. In 2023, we successfully drilled our first borehole well thanks to the generous support of Water Charity. The borehole well is currently bringing clean water to hundreds of Epworth residents who are benefitting greatly from the project. Since the borehole well was completed, clinics have reported lower rates of waterborne illnesses and school attendance has increased.
However, the need continues to be immense. To fully eradicate the region’s water insecurity, Epworth’s population needs 200 borehole wells. One borehole well costs $6.000 to construct. Dare to Share has strategically selected wells that are sustainable through solar energy and durable. We have also designed our well program to bring more jobs to the Epworth community by hiring local residents to help build, sustain, and secure their clean water resources. This way, we ensure that each project not only provides immediate relief but also empowers the community to take ownership of its success.
Dare to Share is also launching an initiative to build public bathrooms and showers that will address Epworth’s critical need for sanitation resources. Currently, residents rely on unsanitary, makeshift latrines that contribute to the spread of illnesses and contaminate natural rivers, including the local rivers which residents often use for all of their bathing, washing, and drinking water. Our new facilities will provide safe, hygienic alternatives while also creating local jobs. Community members will be employed to staff, clean, and maintain the sites, and construction will be carried out by local small businesses, ensuring the project supports both public health and the local economy.
Establishing Schools and Children’s Homes for Abandoned and Vulnerable Children
Epworth is home to a large population of orphaned and vulnerable children, many of whom live on the streets despite having surviving family members who are simply unable to provide for them. These children face daily risks to their safety, health, and well-being. Dare to Share has supported hundreds of children in finding stable, loving homes by facilitating family reunification and providing caregivers with the essential resources they need. We offer support such as access to education, clean water, food assistance, and financial aid—ensuring that families are equipped to provide a safe and nurturing environment. Through this work, we help restore family bonds and give children the chance to grow up with dignity, security, and hope for a better future.
Dare to Share is developing a new facility in Epworth that will serve as both a children’s home and a school. This space will provide housing, holistic care, and access to education. We are expanding an existing local school that is currently under-resourced and overcrowded, building up its infrastructure to accommodate more students. We are adding a new section that will serve as a fully-staffed orphanage designed to nurture children and place them in loving families, whether by reuniting them with surviving family members or placing them in foster or adoptive homes.
Building Clinics
Dare to Share is building a clinic in Epworth to make medical care more accessible, especially for pregnant women who do not have access to safe, professional care during childbirth. Dare to Share supports a doctor who is currently delivering babies out of her own home due to the lack of medical facilities. To address disparities in healthcare access for mothers, our clinic will be a fully staffed and equipped medical facility offering a range of essential services, including emergency care, laboratory testing, and routine medical exams. It will also feature a birthing center to provide mothers with safe, professional care throughout pregnancy and childbirth.
Dare to Share is creating pathways to medical education for aspiring doctors from the Epworth community. We support young scholars through the college and medical school application process and provide scholarships to help them complete their degrees. To encourage them to return and serve their community, we are developing incentive programs that include housing, food support, and the resources they need to build sustainable medical careers in Epworth.
Feed Program
Dare to Share is actively working to reduce food insecurity in Epworth through both immediate relief and long-term solutions. We organize regular food drives that provide essential groceries to families in crisis, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals. In addition to food distribution, we support residents in establishing and maintaining home and community gardens.
